JOB DESCRIPTION AND COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT
Position Title: Charge Nurse Reports to: Clinical Director
POSITION SUMMARY: Assists the Clinical Director in the daily clinical operations of the PACU/Pre-Op in accordance with established Federal, State, accreditation standards and center policies and procedures. Participates in the development and implementation of Quality Assessment and Infection Control activities. Maintains and produces monthly PACU stats and records. Responsible for the maintenance of equipment, purchasing drugs and controlled substances, pre-op and PACU orientation, and accuracy of medical records.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience/Licenses/Certificates/Eligibility: Current R.N. license and BCLS. ACLS preferred. Prefer three (3) years experience as a PACU nurse. Prefer leadership and PACU experience within the last five years. Knowledge of regulatory standards.

Demonstrates an above average ability to organize, prioritize, analyze, anticipate, interpret, evaluate and problem solve to provide a safe, effective and functional environment.
Knowledge: Working knowledge and experience in PACU from hospital or ambulatory surgery center including direct patient care. Ability to adhere to work schedule and manage time appropriately. Ability to effectively manage the activities and personnel in the PACU. Knowledge of current nursing matters relating to healthcare management including TQM. Ability to utilize resources in an organized and effective manner.
MACHINES, EQUIPMENT, WORK AIDES: Computer, printer, copier, telephone and fax. Knowledge of patient monitoring equipment, defibrillator.
